I’m here to help

Are you struggling to feel connected and understood in your relationships? Maybe you’re uncertain about your purpose in life, facing challenges in managing your day-to-day wellbeing, or feeling a sense of unworthiness or failure?  I am here to help you identify what’s blocking you from being your best self and to help you feel more empowered in your everyday life. Whether you need support increasing your capacity to move through emotions, thoughts, or behaviors getting in your way, or you want to embrace each day with more clarity, joy, and sense of purpose, I will be there to help you through your journey.

about me & my approach

I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist providing psychotherapy to a diverse population of clients. I prioritize empathic listening, authentic relationship-building, and a non-judgmental approach in my work. Along with adult and teen individuals, I also work with couples, polycules, and chosen families—be they friends, lovers, relatives, colleagues or cohabitants—to help you communicate more effectively, heal past ruptures, and get your needs met. My training incorporates evidence-based interventions meant to ease your current symptoms, alongside longer-term psychodynamic therapy to help you discover deeper, more long-lasting solutions in your life and relationships. I incorporate techniques from Emotion Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method into my work with couples and polycules.

My background as a history professor influences my therapeutic approach by exploring how systems of injustice, intergenerational and historical traumas, and the pressures of late-stage capitalism impact our lives and mental health—including the people around us across our intimate circles and larger communities. I understand not only those struggles particular to academia, but also the challenges faced by others in high-achieving, high-pressure environments, which sometimes leave us feeling empty, disappointed, or overwhelmed.

Alternatively, it can be hard to live up to the demands of familial, cultural, and societal expectations—be they professional or personal—when those visions don’t align with our own values and aspirations. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community who came out in the 1990s, I understand how living one’s truth in a less than accepting environment can negatively impact us over the short and long term. I encourage each client to embrace their idiosyncratic talents and embody their own uniqueness. I know from my own experience going to therapy that it offers a powerful key to reconnecting with your authentic self and encourages you to start living in more fulfilling ways.
